Unofficial piKey v0.4 pre-release - Image 1Not quite done, but almost there. akito77 over at the QJ.NET PSP Development Forums is sending out word that a pre-release version of the Unofficial piKey 0.4 plugin is now available for download.

Here's a refresher for the the newcomers: The piKey project was started to enable the PSP to use wireless IR keyboards for both games and its XMB browser.

This unofficial project update was started with the blessings of Fanjita, the original author, and was intended to fix several bugs found in piKey v0.3.

As for the matter of the pre-release label, the dev team explained that Unofficial piKey v0.4 will not come with the 3.71 support that was planned when work on the project began.

Instead, they'll be waiting until the release of the PSP's custom firmware 3.80 M33; This current release is built to work for CFW 3.52 M33-4.

As for the latest changelog for this project by Cleanser23, Angelo, Lunix, Hells Plumber, Wakaru, and Joseph:
  • The x button now inputs the correct letter x and not the symbol.
  • Compiling bugs have been fixed for developers.
  • Dealt with the select button issue causing incorrect piKey input in the "On Screen Keyboard."

  • Now and improved installer, documents and instruction files.
  • Key repeats are now working. You can hold a key a key and it will automatically repeat. (For Palm users, this isn t an issue.)

  • There is a message appearing when CAPS/Num/Scroll lock is on.
We advise would-be users to view the readme included with the file for installation and usage instructions. You may also want to visit the QJ.NET Forum if you're interested in providing the project team with some helpful feedback.
